Nine Provocateurs Moved after Cipinang Prison Riot

Chief of Jatinegara Sector Police Supadi said nine inmates suspected as provocateurs in the inter-prisoner commotion at Penitentiary Class I Cipinang were moved. Until now the situation in Cipinang Prison is safe.

“The situation is under control,” Supadi said when contacted by Tempo on Friday, June 8.

According to Supadi, the commotion was triggered by mutual mockery. It occurred between six prisoners of narcotics cases and three criminal inmates on Thursday, June 7, at around 09:30 am.

At that time, a prisoner named Andri from Block 2 on the second floor came to Block O and H on the third floor, visiting a prisoner named Andi Tanu.

While they were chatting, there was a difference of opinion between a prisoner named Mohammad Rohyani and Yosi in the hall. The situation worsened because the prisoners downstairs shouted about the commotion on the third floor.

As a result of the commotion, at 01:00 pm, nine inmates suspected as provocateurs were moved. They are six narcotics prisoners, namely Arthur Arnold Far, Cristoper Tedy Hendrik, Febri Liyansyah, Ibrahim Gholib, Syamsul Arifin, and Yosias Watimena, they were moved to the narcotics prison.

Meanwhile, the three criminal inmates, namely Abdul Rosed, Aditya July, and Husein Ahmad were moved from Cipinang Prison to Salemba Penitentiary, Central Jakarta.
