The Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) chairman Said Aqil Siradj asked Muslims to maintain harmony during Ramadan which coincided with the political year.

“Let us make this Ramadan a holy, glorious, harmonious month. No conflicts and disputes, stop it,” Said stated at Hashim Asyari Mosque, Daan Mogot, West Jakarta on Saturday, May 26.

Said pinned hoped Muslims should continue to maintain harmony and brotherhood after Ramadan considering Indonesia conducted simultaneous regional head elections this year and presidential election next year.

Said explained there are three kinds of brotherhood in Islam according to NU; brotherhood with Muslims from all over the world, with people in the country regardless different religions and beliefs, and with all human beings. “Because they are the descendants of Adam and Eve,” he added.
