Dian Sastrowardoyo to Star in Laksmi Pamuntjak’s Book-to-Movie Adaptation
Renowned actress Dian Sastrowardoyo is set to star in Aruna dan Lidahnya (Aruna and Her Palate), a film based on the Laksmi Pamuntjak book of the same name.
Directed by Edwin and penned by Titien Wattimena, the movie is being produced by Palari Films.
Dian will take on the role of Aruna, a woman obsessed with food. On its Instagram page, Palari Films explained its decision to cast Dian. “Aside from acting, Dian also has culinary business with her two friends. Such an interesting coincidence,” reads the caption.
Dian’s name began to circulate after the company released a photo of a woman licking her lips on its social media channels, and challenged its followers to guess the identity of the women in the photo.
The cast members for three other major characters are yet to be revealed, namely Bono, a chef who studied in the US, culinary critic Nad and Aruna’s long-time colleague Farish. According to rumors circulating on Instagram, actors Nicholas Saputra and Oka Antara might be in line for two of the roles.
Aruna dan Lidahnya will be Palari Films’s second title after the release of Posesif (Possessive) last year, which won three awards at the 2017 Indonesia Film Festival.
