During 2018 Asian Games, Persija Cannot Use GBK

During the 2018 Asian Games, the main Stadium Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) in Jakarta will not be used for other sporting events. The organizing committee of the Asian Games 2018 Indonesia (INASGOC) declared even the match of League 1 soccer competition cannot be held in there.

INASGOC chairman Erick Thohir in Jakarta, on Monday, said that the Asian Olympic Council (OCA) had set the GBK Main Stadium in the 2018 Asian Games to be used only for athletic events, opening and closing events. The decree has also been approved by PSSI, Ministry of PUPR and INASGOC.

Persija and Persib, he said, should coordinate with the three parties as the absolute requirement to use the GBK Main Stadium.

“During the 2018 Asian Games, other sporting events will be eliminated, and the use of GBK Stadium can be proposed after the Asian Games 2018,” he said.
