Sandiaga Uno Answers Ombudsman Summons on Pari Island Dispute

Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno responded the summon of Indonesia Ombudsman regarding its final investigation report (LAHP) on land certificates issuance in Pari Island.

“On behalf of Mr. Governor, I will meet Ombudsman to give testimony and will further discuss after a meeting at 10:30,” Sandiaga announced in the City Hall, Monday, April 9.

According to Sandiaga, Jakarta administration still investigates more information on Pari island land disputes thoroughly. “Comprehensive data, to then be revealed to Ombudsman,” he stated.

Sandiaga Uno was seen to enter Indonesia Ombudsman building at around 10:20 local times.

As previously reported, the dispute began in 2014 when PT Bumi Pari Asri claimed that the residents’ houses were built on the company’s land. While the local residents accused the company willing to take over the developing tourism destination of Pari Island.

Based on the South Thousand Islands data, PT Bumi Pari Sari has 40.6 hectares of land in Pari Island; 14 certificates of its building, 61 certificates under the private name, and 62 land part of sale and purchase of land (AJB) certificates signed by the district head. Pari Island has 41.32 hectares area.

According to Jakarta Regional Regulation No. 6/1999 on the regional spatial plan, 40 percent of Pari Island is used for community residence, 50 percent for social economy, and 10 percent for the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI).

As many as 50 people staged a protest over the land dispute after Ombudsman building. Ten of them were then entered the office. “We will have a meeting about LAHP with Deputy Governor (Sandiaga Uno),” said the rally representative, Edi Mulyono.
