Police Deny Bomb Attacks as Diversion Issue

The National Police asserted the bomb attacks thus far were not deliberately created to divert the issue as it was said on social media. The Police’s Head of Public Relations Division Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto stated the terror were true.

“Who wants to engineer a bombing attack until people’s body is cut into pieces and scattered everywhere,” said Setyo at Pullman Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 22.

Setyo admitted he knew clearly how horrible the bomb attack is since he was an eyewitness to the attack in J.W. Marriott Jakarta in 2009.

Setyo who served in Jakarta Police was about to leave for work and heard the report. At the crime scene shortly after the bomb exploded, Setyo saw the pieces of victim’s body.

He also witnessed the condition of the post-bomb blast in Kampung Melayu in 2017. “There is no director even in Hollywood could create [the terror],” he added.

Furthermore, terrorism researcher Ridlwan Habib considered the idea saying bomb attacks as the engineering incident to divert certain issue proved that terrorism in Indonesia is still growing. He suggested the government to take stern steps to eliminate such understanding by holding a meeting with the country’s influential figures and terrorist inmates.
