Mien R Uno’s New Book Explores the Art of Mixing, Matching Jewelry
Mien R. Uno and Debbie S. Suryawan launched a book titled Perhiasanku (My Jewelry) on Thursday at The Dharmawangsa hotel in South Jakarta.
Published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama, the 188-page book discusses the art of mixing and matching jewelry, jewelry care and historical facts about jewelry in the archipelago.
Mien said in a press release that the book aimed to answer the questions she frequently received about jewelry.
The etiquette expert said that the main theme of the book was how to use jewelry based on fashion choices, adding that jewelry was not limited to accessorizing formal attire or kebaya, but could also be used for work clothes and casual outfits.
She said that she wanted to inspire others to use jewelry in various styles and in unique ways.
Mien has been a jewelry collector for decades. She also recommended jewelry enthusiasts use accessories that suit their personality.
Mien expressed her hopes that the book would be of benefit to women in choosing, owning and mixing jewelry with different styles of attires for various occasions.
She also said she hoped the book would increase people’s appreciation of the beauty of jewelry, which helps add to the investment and traditional value of items that can be passed down from generation to generation.
A portion of the proceeds from the book will be donated to several orphanages.
