Sandiaga Vows to Act Firm on Political Activity in Public Spaces
Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno promised to act firm on the misuse of public space for the political purpose. Sandiaga said Jakarta administration will impose a sanction on the violator.
“We will give sanction according to the regulation,” said Sandiaga at Jakarta City Hall on Monday, May 7.
The misuse of public space for the political agenda referred by Sandiaga is a mass activity of #2019GantiPresiden and #DiaSibukKerja in the car-free day (CFD) on April 29 as well as the declaration of the #2019GantiPresiden volunteers, and the volunteer of Joko Widodo women’s gymnast on May 6. The last two events held not far from Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue, Jalan MH Thamrin and Proclamation Monument.
Sandiaga Uno is aware of the escalation and intensity of similar activities will increase in the political year. He prohibits and will take firm action against political activities held in places ruled by the Jakarta administration.
“If still under the Jakarta Administration, we apply the same,” he said.
Sandiaga Uno considers the preparation of technical guidelines concerning the case. Sandiaga said, on the other hand, the Jakarta administration does not want to add the regulation that potentially distresses the public.
“We are thinking about it again because we do not want this to add to the regulations that burden the community,” said Sandiaga.
