Pari Island Residents Demand to Meet Governor Anies Baswedan
Around 50 residents of Pari Island gathered in front of Jakarta’s City Hall in an attempt to meet Governor Anies Baswedan and have their demands fulfilled.
“We ask Anies to revoke the corporate certificate that has controlled the Pari Island,” said a protester named Ujen.
According to Ujen, the Pari Island residents will not leave City Hall until they meet with Governor Anies Baswedan. “We will stay here until we meet Anies until we are forced to leave. We will stay here overnight if necessary,” said Ujen.
Previously reported, Ombudsman announced its final report on the Pari Island ownership by PT Bumi Pari Asri and PT Bumi Griyanusa where Ombudsman found elements of maladministration in the issuance of 62 ownership certificates (SHM) and 14 building use permits (SHGB).
Residents of Pari Island had previously protested at Jakarta’s National Land Agency (BPN) last week, however, they decided to continue protesting at City Hall after they failed to find any answers.
