Indonesian coaches to train players of Indian Aces Shuttlers Academy

A bunch of city shuttlers will get a chance to hone their skills under the watchful eyes of Indonesian coaches here at the NMC Indoor Sports Complex, Vivekanand Nagar.

The newly formed Indian Aces Shuttlers Academy has roped in 29-year-old Subakti and 19-year-old Rizky Akbar Syukar for a couple of months to train its selected group of around 25 promising players during the summer camp.

Subakti has eight years of coaching in Indonesia and arrived in the city on Wednesday. The other Indonesian coach Rizky will join him in a couple of days.

The summer camps will be held in two batches. The first batch camp will begin on May 1 and will end on May 31. The second leg of the camp will be held from June 1 to 30. The camp will be held in two sessions. Besides there will be special fitness guidance from physiotherapist Kevin Agrawal to all the trainees.

“The main motive behind inviting foreign coaches is to provide advanced training to our academy students. Several of our trainees are quite talented and we thought their performance can be improved if they get even better coaching from the experienced foreign coaches,” said chief coach and director of Indian Aces Shuttlers Academy Akshay Gajbhiye while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.

He said Indonesians are very passionate about badminton and their methods of coaching are something which is missing in India.

The Indian Aces Shuttlers Academy is run under Stree Shakti Vikas Charitable Trust for the promotion of sports in the region.

Trust president Usha Patel said after the completion of the summer camp, Indonesian coaches will continue to stay and guide the selected bunch of promising players throughout the year.
“We have budding shuttlers from all over Vidarbha and some of them are from Kolhapur. We have made lodging and boarding arrangements for them near the venue. We are committed to give best of training to our academy students,” said Usha Patel. She said the formal opening of the academy will be held on April 22 at 7 pm at the NMC Indoor Hall, Vivekanand Nagar.
Trust secretary Dr Sonal Patel and treasurer Sandeep Sheoran were also present during the press conference.
