Anas Urbaningrum First Trial of Judicial Review Held Today
The Central Jakarta District Court (PN) will hold the first trial of a corruption case Judicial Review (PK) and money laundering crime with the former Democratic Party Chairman Anas Urbaningrum as the defendant, today.
Public Relations Officer of PN Central Jakarta, Jamaludin Samosir said the trial will be chaired by the Chief Judge Sumpeno.
“Right, it is true, the trial of PK Anas Urbaningrum held today, the Chief Judge is Pak Sumpeno,” he said when confirmed on Thursday, May 24.
Anas filed a PK against the Supreme Court, which aggravated his sentence from seven years to 14 years in prison. In addition, Anas is also required to pay a fine of Rp5 billion subsidiary one year and four months of confinement.
Anas is also required to pay the replacement money amounting to Rp57 billion to the state. The judge also granted the prosecutor’s demands to repeal the political rights of Anas Urbaningrum.
Previously, in the first court, the panel of judges of the Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced Anas Urbaningrum to 8 years in prison and a fine of Rp300 million subsidiary 3 months in jail.
The panel of judges stated that the former Chairman of the Democratic Party was convicted of corruption and money laundering in Hambalang project, a university project at the Ministry of National Education and other APBN projects. At the appellate level, the Jakarta High Court eased the sentence to 7 years.
