Transport Minister Targets to Launch LRT Kelapa Gading August 10

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi set a target to launch the light rail transit (LRT) Kelapa Gading in early August this year. He was optimistic the LRT could be operational for the 2018 Asian Games.

“Hopefully it’ll be done on August 1-10 which then we will operate for Asian Games,” the minister said.

Budi expected the process of certification could be done between August 1-10 which focus on the completed infrastructure.

“We target it’ll be done on August 1-10 which then we will operate for Asian Games,” the minister said.

Budi further explained the progress of the railways and its facilities has reached 92 percent thus far.

The president director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Dwi Wahyu Daryoto said the construction of LRT facility and its certifications would be completed in parallel. He mentioned the train would be stored in front of Kelapa Gading mall until the depot construction finished.

“The depot [of LRT Kelapa Gading] is prepared to store 116 train sets which will be integrated for 40 kilometers,” he added.
