Tik Tok Management to Conform to Government`s Demands
He representative of Beijing Bytedance, which oversees the recently banned Tik Tok application, reportedly paid a visit to the Communication and Informatics Ministry yesterday, July 4.
In a meeting with the Communication Minister, Zhen Liu, Beijing Bytedance Senior Vice President Corporate Secretary, committed to meet the ministry’s demands. “We hope that we can do more in Indonesia to create and promote better quality contents,” said Liu in a press conference following the meeting at the Kominfo office yesterday, July 4.
So far, said Liu, Tik Tok has met the government’s demands upon cleaning negative contents in the mobile app and is currently waiting for the government’s verification.
To prevent similar cases from happening in the future, Tik Tok will establish an office in Indonesia that acts as the company’s official Indonesian representative. Even though Bytedance already has an office in Indonesia to represent the company’s other app available in Indonesia, Babe.
Liu further explained that Tik Tok will recruit 20 special staffs in charge of monitoring the contents of the app in Indonesia. The company will also be adding up to 200 employees by the end of 2018 to maximize its efforts in filtering the contents in Tik Tok.
Following the positive response from app-developers, Minister Rudiantara will be ready to lift the ban on Tik Tok as long as the company is ready to conform to the government`s demands.
