AHY Invites Kalla to Propose as 2019 Vice Presidential Candidate
Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) admitted that he had no plan to propose in the 2019 presidential elections and paired with a son of the former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or SBY, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
“I cannot comment about it because I do not know. I do not think about it,” JK said at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, June 21.
Kalla said politics can change. If anyone mentioned that people want him to propose with AHY, JK said that the comment could not represent the whole Indonesian people.
“The Indonesian population is 290 million people, people who have the right to vote are nearly 200 million,” he said.
Commander of Joint Task Force of the Democrat Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono or AHY said his party does not rule out the possibility to propose AHY pairing with JK in the 2019 presidential elections.
“Yes, definitely we consider all the options,” said Agus at the AHY Foundation office, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 13.
The option of JK-AHY candidacy appeared some time ago. It resonates after the Democrat Party planned to form a coalition in the 2019 presidential election.
According to AHY, Democrat Party is still open the opportunities of a coalition with any party. He said until now, the party’s political attitude is still flexible.
“We consider all options, we must be careful, it should be adjusted between the spirit of optimism, but also with political reality,” he said.
AHY said Democrat Party continues to communicate to all political parties. In addition, it is still considering the presidential threshold requirement of 20 percent vote in order to be able to propose the presidential and vice presidential candidates.
