The World Cup costs 9,165 Million
Your organization will cause growth of 1% in GDP and has created 220,000 jobs. 55% of the investment is from the government.
The twenty-first edition of the Soccer World Cup that will take place in Russia begins today in the Luzhnikí Stadium: 32 teams will play 64 games in twelve stadiums spread over eleven cities in the largest country in the world.
The figures of the championship in investment, attendance of public, security officers and a very long etcetera produce authentic vertigo. The total expenditure of Russia 2018 is about 9,165 million euros (10,800 million dollars), of which 55% comes directly from the Russian government. Of the rest, some 2,800 million are contributed by private investors and another 1,272 have been disbursed by the regions where the matches will be disputed.
The diversification of this expenditure has been distributed among 50% for hotels, transportation and infrastructure construction, while another 33% was allocated to the construction of sports stadiums and facilities.
The Organizing Committee itself has confirmed that the organization of this event has stimulated a growth of 1% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the last 5 years, while in the predecessor country (Brazil in 2014) it was only 0.6 %.
In fact Russia exceeds in absolute figures the organizers of the last four world championships (Brazil, South Africa, Germany, South Korea and Japan). This translated into numbers draws some 12,728 million euros (1,697 of them linked to tourism) the impact it has had on the national economy since 2013.
The legacy of the World Cup in terms of transport network, services, investment in security and infrastructure will be enormous. After the final whistle in Luzhnikí, the championship will have brought, in addition to a tremendous joy to the winning country, about 2,545 million euros to the national economy for the period between 2019 and 2023.
But it is that the present of Russia, immersed in international and economic political problems by the sanctions, already feels the push of the tournament. Since the designation as an organizing country, which took place in 2010, some 220,000 jobs have been created, which has allowed the population to increase their income by almost 5,940 million euros and therefore improve their standard of living.
Safety, road improvements, rail transport, medical facilities, services, hotels … Russia 2018 will be a sporting milestone for the country that will catapult an enigmatic state to the whole world, but it will also be the economic and social driving force for the advancement of a nation that wants to overcome international political obstacles to be in the world elite.
The economic World Cup has already won Russia, where it is more difficult is in the football section, where their selection does not give many joys.
