Israel and Palestine Exchange FURIOUS Rocket Fire as Middle East Conflict RAGES
Sirens could be heard in Gaza warning residents to prepare for incoming fire from Israel, before Palestinian fighters responded by firing rockets of their own.
The Israel Defence Force (IDF) said they had fired the jets to target three military targets in Gaza belonging to the Hamas militia in response to attacks on their country.
In a statement on Twitter they said: “The strike was conducted in response to the repeated launching of incendiary kites and balloons with explosive devices attached to them from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.
“The IDF is prepared to continue operating with increased intensity and with various means in response to these terror attacks.
“The Hamas terror organisation is responsible for all events that transpire in and emanate from the Gaza Strip and will bear the consequence.”
The attack from Gaza that followed has also been confirmed.
The Palestinian Information Centre tweeted: “Our forces: resistance launches a number of rockets towards the occupied territories in 48, in response to the bombardment of Gaza’s occupation planes.”
However, it is unclear whether any of the rockets from Gaza were successful in their attempts to strike Israel.
The army said it identified the rockets coming from the strop but did not say whether anti-missile systems intercepted the attack.
It is also unclear if anyone was injured in the exchange of fire.
In recent weeks Palestinian fighters have attempted to launch incendiary balloons across the border into Israel.
An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed the group was launching “fire balloons” containing a flammable material into Israel.
Around twenty fires were started on Saturday by balloons and kites carrying flammable material from the enclave over the border fence and into Israel, according to Eli Cohen, a spokesman for fire brigades in southern Israel.
