Kelly Brook stars in Indonesian horror film ‘Santet’

Production company Skylar Pictures officially released the trailer of Santet (Black Magic) on Tuesday, revealing that the film involves English model-actress Kelly Brook.

The film marks the first time Brook has been involved in an Indonesian film production. However, director Helfi Kardit told tempo.co that he did not find an issue working with Brook, although the actress had to adapt to the weather and food.

Helfi also revealed that the production house paid a large amount of money for Brook, explaining that the actress’ fee alone could be used to produce one horror film in Indonesia.

Santet follows the story of Rendi (Marcelino Lefrandt). Following the death of his father, Rendi returns to Indonesia from the United States. He finds that the cause of death is strange, leading him to investigate further.

In the movie, Brook plays the role of Laura, Rendi’s wife.

Marcelino told kompas.com that the movie was challenging as 90 percent of the dialogue was in English.

In addition to Brook and Marcelino, Santet also features local celebrities, including Ray Sahetapy and Ayu Dyah Pasha.

Santet is set to premiere in October. The film will reportedly be screened in five countries, namely Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei.
