Prosecutors Demand 6 Years for Actor Tio Pakusadewo

Prosecutors demand the court sentence senior actor Tio Pakusadewo to six years in prison for drug possession. The prosecutors read the indictment during a follow-up hearing today at the South Jakarta District Court.

“To charge crime against defendant Irwan Susetyo Pakusadewo a.k.a. Tio Pakusadewo bin Setiono Harjo with a six-year prison sentence, minus the detention period, and a fine of Rp1 billion substitutable with six months of prison time,” public prosecutor Yaman said.

Yaman said Tio was proven to have violated Law No.35/2009 on the Possession of Non-Plant Narcotics Group I. The evidence presented in the trial was 0.6 grams of crystal meth.

“It is only right that the defendant is given a punishment fitting to his actions,” he said.

Presiding judge Asiadi Sembiring gave Tio and his legal counsel a chance to respond to prosecutors’ demands. “You have the right to make an oral or written defense made by yourself or assisted by a lawyer,” he said.

Tio Pakusadewo said he would compose a defense, thus requesting time to prepare it with his legal counsel. The judges agreed and Tio’s defense hearing will be on June 7.
