AP II Prepares Anticipations as Garuda Pilots Threaten to Strike
State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) was worried should the planned strike of Garuda Indonesia pilots and crews trigger consumers’ inconvenience especially during the peak season of Eid`s homecoming ahead.
“If the strike is held, that will affect to consumers’ safety and convenience in terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta airport,” AP II’s President Corporate of Communication Yado Yarismano told Tempo today June 5.
Yado pinned hope the plan will be halted. However, AP II had prepared several strategies to anticipate the impacts.
First, AP II will coordinate with Garuda Indonesia on which airline that likely null or postponed. “The flight information is vital for us to prepare many options,” said Yado.
Second, announcing the passengers should the flights canceled or halted. “Earlier information will prevent the would-be passengers crowd the airport.”
Third, the airport operator company will provide cozy waiting area and with ground hauling as well as airlines will provide takjil (snack for breaking the fast).
Forth, it will form partnership with other transportations as ever occurred in 2016 due to Mount Raung eruption.
Finally, AP II will deploy operational teams to disperse the crowd at Terminal 3 to boarding lounge or other comfortable spots.
Meanwhile, Garuda Pilots Association (APG) president Capt. Bintang Handono stated the planned strike to be held or halted depends on the government’s response and solution that in line with the demands of pilots and crews of Garuda Indonesia.
