Groundbreaking Port Patimban to Take Place in July 2018

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the groundbreaking of Patimban Port, Subang, West Java would take place in early July this year.

“God willing, if there is no problem the groundbreaking will be in early July 2018,” said Budi after visiting Buntet Pesantren in Cirebon, West Java, Sunday, May 20.

On Sunday morning, Minister Budi inspected the area for Patimban Port. He expected the first stage of construction would be completed in March 2019 by two state-owned construction firms PT Wijaya Karya Tbk and PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP) along with one Japanese firm Penta-Ocean Construction.

Patimban Port would consist of two area, reclamation island with an area of 350 hectares and 250-300 hectares of land area. The construction project would go through three stages. In the first stage, the port could have a terminal to load up to 360 vehicle units per year and container port traffic of 800,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

The project of Patimban Port is financed by the loan from Japan at 118.9 billion yen or equal to Rp14.2 billion and would be gradually disbursed in accordance with its construction progress. Japan was said to peg an interest rate of 0.1 percent and consulting services at 0.01 percent with a loan term of 40 years.
