Indonesia Wins 6 Gold Medals in Open Belgium Pencak Silat
Indonesian Pencak Silat team won the gold medal in Open Belgium Pencak Silat 2018 competition held on May 5-6, in Schoten-Antwerp, Belgium.
“The Indonesian Pencak Silat team won six gold, two silver, and one bronze medals,” the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Brussels stated in the press release received in Jakarta today, May 8.
The open tournament was the 23rd time held in Belgium by Belgian Bond Pencak Silat (BPSB), the Belgian Pencak Silat federation established 36 years ago.
The annual Open Belgium Pencak Silat championship was attended by 120 fighters from 12 countries, namely Indonesia, Belgium, Netherlands, Britain, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Switzerland, USA, Azerbaijan, and Austria.
Indonesian Ambassador to Belgium Yuri O. Thamrin was invited to officially open the tournament.
Ambassador Yuri complimented the BPSB Chairman Ludo Pieters for his efforts to introduce Pencak Silat as the martial art to the people of Belgium and other European countries.
The Indonesian Ambassador also encouraged the Pencak Silat athletes from around the world as the martial arts ambassadors.
