Govt Names Pansela as Safe Alternative Route for Eid Homecoming
The Director General of road construction and maintenance Bina Marga at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Arie Setiadi Moerwanto, said the Pansela (south coastal lane) could be used as an alternative road for 2018 Eid home-comers.
“We suggest the road, as to spread the traffic flow, particularly those who usually taking Nagrek route can now pass Cilancap then Banjar,” said Arie to Tempo, Sunday, May 6.
According to Arie, the south coastal lane presents beautiful scenery and likely quite of vehicles load because only a few have known the route. As for the safety, Arie ensured the road is safe to pass.
Arie explained the south lane is better than Pantura lane considering the north coastal lane usually crossed by heavy vehicles which damaged the road and that is risky for the motorcycle riders.
Earlier, Transportation Ministry Budi Karya Sumadi announced national road is feasible and safe to be used as an alternative route for Eid home-comers in a bid to reduce the congestion.
Minister Budi went on to say that in this six weeks prior to Eid al-Fitr he would note any damaged road to be repaired before the mass exodus of Lebaran (Eid Day) 1439 H.
