Japanese Pop Star Hikaru Utada Prepares for New Tour After 12-Year Hiatus

Hikaru Utada, one of the biggest names in the Japanese pop music scene, will be going on tour again after a long 12-year break.

The still untitled tour will pass through six venues starting November. Utada will perform in Kanagawa Prefecture (Nov. 6, 7), Fukuoka Prefecture (Nov. 14, 15), Aichi Prefecture (Nov. 22, 23), Osaka (Nov. 28), Saitama Prefecture (Dec. 4, 5) and Chiba Prefecture (Dec. 8, 9). Pricing for tickets have yet to be revealed, according to a report by M-on! Press via SoraNews24.

A new album titled “Hatsukoi” from Utada’s current label, Epic Records, will also be released on June 27.

Utada debuted in 1998 and quickly earned a name in the Japanese pop music industry. She was born to Japanese parents in New York city, so she speak fluent English and Japanese. Utada currently has six Japanese albums released under record labels and two in English.

The singer also earned an international following when she sang theme songs for video game franchise “Kingdom Hearts” and anime “Evangelion.”

Utada last held a Japanese concert tour in 2006 titled “Utada United 2006.” The tour featured 22 performances across 11 cities.
