Police Chief Reassigns High-Ranking Bareskrim Officers

National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian has issued a notice ordering the reassignment of three high-ranking officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim), kompas.com reported.

Signed on Thursday, the letter stated that Bareskrim’s special economic crime director, Brig. Gen. Agung Setya, would serve as a high-ranking officer at the National Police’s Security Intelligence Agency assigned to the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

Meanwhile, Bareskrim special crimes director Brig. Gen. Rudy Heriyanto is set to step into Agung’s former post. Cybercrime director Brig. Gen. Fadil Imran was initially ordered to replace Rudy, but the position eventually went to Sr. Comr. Albertus Rachmad Wibowo.

Other reassignments include that of South Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Mardiaz Kusin Dwihananto, who will step down to serve as coordinator for the police chief’s personal assistants. Meanwhile, Sr. Comr. Indra Jafar has been assigned to replace Mardiaz.

National Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Martinus Sitompul said the changes were needed to reinvigorate the law-enforcement agency’s personnel structure.

“Some officers need to be replaced due to retirement. This is needed to optimize [the National Police’s] performance,” Martinus told journalists.
