Truck Owners Ask for JORR Integrated Payment System Start in July

Indonesia Truck Owner Association (Apterindo) head Gemilang Tarigan pinned hope the implementation of integrated payment system on Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) toll road would start to take effect soon.

“After Eid’s homecoming season, in July, we hope it [integrated system] will be applied,” said Tarigan to Tempo on Sunday, June 24. According to him, the system implementation would help reduce nearly half of the toll cost.

Based on the recent tariff, one trailer truck was required to pay Rp45,000 to enter Tanjung Priok toll. 12 kilometers later heading to Cikampek, it should again pay Rp23,000. Thus, the owner must spend Rp68,000 for the one-way trip or Rp136,000 for the round-trip. Such condition made truck owners chose to pass the main roads instead of the toll.

“We have said that JORR toll has ‘ring’ on its name which means circle, united, so don’t separate it because the cost may rise,” said Tarigan.

Tarigan argued the implementation of integrated payment system might be beneficial to the truck owners on the matter of cost and speed. In addition, it also possibly reduces trucks passing the main roads hence it will help smooth out the traffic flow.

As reported earlier, the implementation of integrated payment system on (JORR) toll road was postponed for the second time on June 20 as it claimed to lack of socialization.
