Indonesian Academician Highlights Education at World Public Relations Conference

London School of Public Relations (LSPR) Jakarta Founder and Director Prita Kemal Gani represented Indonesia as one of the keynote speakers at the 2018 World Public Relations Conference (WPRC) on Apr 22-24 in Oslo, Norway.

According to a statement received by Antara here on Tuesday, Gani, who is also chairperson of the ASEAN Public Relations Network, along with 39 speakers from various countries shared experiences with some 1,200 practitioners and academics engaged in public relations from across the world.

At the conference, Gani brought up the topic titled “Building Quality Public Relations Education to Bridge Inequality” in which she highlighted how quality education can reduce inequalities in social life, especially education in public relations.

She explained that Indonesia has a population of 260 million people comprising 49 percent women and 37 percent children.

Gani opined that education is the best investment for the future of the younger generation. Although today`s technology is foreseen to replace humans, Gani believes that human touch is still needed in today`s business industry as well as in future.

Hence, the education that she imparts continues to drive innovations in learning techniques that are not only classroom-based but also through the use of several methods, such as drama, hybrid online and offline learning, and apprenticeship program to introduce students to the real world of work.

LSPR Jakarta is a testament to Gani`s hard work in building public relations in the education sector in Indonesia. Gani made assurance to businesspersons that public relations held significance as one of the key elements in building and improving business to gain profits.

In 2011, Gani was elected the chairperson of the Public Relations Association of Indonesia. Gani initiated the accreditation and certification for public relations in Indonesia since she believes that public relations workers should be competent in fulfilling their tasks.

The 2018 WPRC raised some currently faced by those engaged in public relations covering digitalization, media relations, behavioral science, internal communication, big data, and strategic communication.
