Indonesia Completes Gelora Bung Karno Complex for ASIAD 18

The upgrading of Gelora Bung Karno sports complex in Indonesia’s Jakarta capital city has basically been completed to serve the 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD 18) scheduled to take place in August.

The complex includes a football stadium, a multi-purpose sporting hall and a water sport palace.

The hall can accommodate 10,000 seats, however only 8,000 seats have been installed for ASIAD 18 spectators to spare room for athletes and reporters.

The water sport palace in the complex was built in 1962 and has been upgraded several times. It can accommodate over 7,000 seats.

The Bung Karno stadium will be the venue for the ASIAD 18 opening and closing ceremonies, and athlete and football events.

The stadium now can accommodate 80,000 spectators, with single-seat system of red and white colours.
