Going Against Madrid, Juventus Avoids Repeating Last Season’s Mistakes

Juventus will again meet with Real Madrid in Champions League competition. This time in the quarterfinals.

Juventus stated they do not want to repeat the same mistake last season when they also met with Real Madrid.

Juventus will be the first to host the first leg on Wednesday (4/4/2018).

This duel is a repeat of last season’s final. At the finals at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff, Juve lost 4-1 to Madrid.

In the game, Juve who was lagging behind had equalized the position by Mario Mandzukic’sgoal. Score of 1-1 lasted until the first half ended.

In the second half, Juve lagged again after Casemiro pushed through the goal of Gianluigi Buffon in the 61st minute. In just three minutes, Madrid added another goal through Cristiano Ronaldo. Additional goal from Marco Asensio ended the game.

“Of course we have watched the finals a couple of times and I will say that this team, especially in Europe but also in Serie A, has grown, especially in managing difficult moments in the game,” Massimiliano Allegri told a news conference as quoted by Football Italia.

“In Cardiff, in the first 15 minutes in the second half, mentally we suffered and we just gave up, and they were able to score a third goal shortly after the second goal.”

“At that moment, we were knocked out of the competition and – especially since this is a two leg match – that is something that should not happen again,” Allegri continued.

“So the important thing is to stay very focused and stay in the game without giving up at all,” he asserted.
